14:28 | £5 per car

Stage length: 35.77 miles

Principal marshalling clubs: Tynemouth, Border Ecosse, Spadeadam, CSMA, South of Scotland, SMMC.

Routes: from Chollerford via the B6320 through Wark then unclassified towards and beyond Whygate. Watch for split after Wark and turn right to car park H &
I or left to car park J. For car park F and G, continue from Wark via Bellingham towards Kielder Village. Car parks off "C200" prior to and beyond Stannersburn. (Chollerford is 5 miles north of Hexham at the junction of the B6318 and B6320). Car parks K & L accessed via Churnsike Lodge from the west at Gilsland (off B6318) to a further mid point. These car parks were introduced last year and traffic flow and parking should be improved this year. They are ideal for spectators coming from the west.

Warning: One way traffic flow in operation to car parks H, I & J - enter only at Wark. Police control at all main junctions.

Car parks open: 07:00 Saturday

Again the longest of the Rally and the reverse of last year's stage running over the classic open Kielder roads. Very fast, curving route with deep ditches to test the drivers to their limits. The supreme test of man and machine with the later part of the field running in darkness. Also used by the Leeds-RAC International Historic Rally with the stage split into two (Chirdonhead and Pundershaw) with the cars starting at 11:13 and 11:48. Location: 3 miles west of Bellingham.

Car parks: All on forest roads except for car park G which is in a field near the middle of the stage.

Fact file: length of the two stages in 1995 - 36.61 miles. Fastest time 31 mins 36 secs (Sainz). Colin McRae lost the lead here last year due to a puncture.
